About This Image

Brilliant almost-winter's day (check out "Frankley Mount Egmont" to see the first big snowfall on the mountain!). Not only were there racehorses being excercised on the beach, there were surfers too ("Paddleboard Surfer")!! Brrrrr!!! So, you really can ski & surf here on the same day! They race the horses full speed up & down the beach a couple of times, then they paddle in the surf. The sound of their hooves thundering up the wet sand is pretty neat. :o)

Hi Pinetree3, thanks for your comments. These shots are taken in New Plymouth, West Coast of North Island of New Zealand. The above shot was taken on Fitzroy Beach while the tide was out, it's a favourite spot for racehorse owners to exercise their horses. I love it when I happen to be walking there at just the right time to catch them, they look & sound awesome thundering down the beach. And then you can turn around & see the mountain!! And yes it is beautiful, but I could be biased as I've lived here all my life lol.
