About This Image

This was taken in a small street just off the Grande Place which can be seen in the background.

The building on the right used to be an hotel and restaurant called "Les Grandes", which you can hopefully just make out from the two close-up versions.

This is a great illustration of just how useful this new feature of TLF is. It would be impossible to make out this information from the whole image, and not only that, I have processed the two fragments completely differently from the setting I used in the main image: altering the white point to "increase" the exposure, and boosting the contrast to make the old faded lettering much clearer. Brian really deserves praise for this element of the new version alone, never mind taking into account all the other excellent improvements!

No Mike, you've got mixed up here! The shot you're thinking of comes from the town of la Souterraine, but this is Arras in Northern France (only about 400 miles away!)
