About This Image

The Public Trust building in Napier, New Zealand. Napier and Hastings (where I live) are neighbouring cities that were both destroyed by an earthquake in 1931. Hence our interesting architecture is due to the cities both being rebuilt completely.

Napier is New Zealands Art Deco capital. People travel for miles to attend the annual Art Deco weekend and all dress up to the nines (art deco style of course). Its a load of fun.

Mary, its not hard to get a nice shot of the lovely old buildings here. Most of them have had a new paint job to make the most of the art deco designs. My daughter actually dances in the theatre in Napier every year. Its a beautiful building but I like the one in Hastings better. That is currently being refurbished. My daughter, Bianca's dance group doesn't perform in the Hastings theatre as her dance school is in Napier. Thats how close the two cities are. Its like we live in one huge city with two big suburbs. It can be really good for shopping as you are there in 20mins. Was over there this morning as a matter of fact (for a school trip though - not shopping).

Very nice architectural shot Lulu. You'll have to post some Art Deco weekend photos so we can see what your're talking about.
