Atlantic Ocean Artifacts

Atlantic Ocean ArtifactsThe Chicamacomico Life-Saving Service Station in Rodanthe was the first to be built and manned in North Carolina in 1874. It remained in service until 1954 (the Life-Saving Service was renamed as the US Coast Guard in 1915).
Throughout all those years, Chicamacomico never lost a surf man during a rescue - an amazing feat considering the rudimentary life-saving equipment they used.
These artifacts were retrieved from various sunken vessels along the treacherous waterways of the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
