These are hot mud pools, some were out in a hot lake with mud islands and hot water bubbling up and the others (eg top two left) were bubbling mud.

You are right it does remind you of bubbling porridge, thankfully porridge doesn't stink like the sulphur smell from these pools.

We are on the volcanic highway and a lot of places you see have steam coming up through the ground.
