Hi Mary - you've got me thinking now! When I saw the cottage my impression was that this was a painted design on a sort of bas-relief plaster render. But perhaps it was wood! I'll have to go back some day and have a proper look. And thank you very much for your comments on my website - very much appreciated. Steve

interesting, have never seen a cottage with that type of design on the exterior. Is this a "usual" design in this region?
