Harriet the turtle

This is Harriet. She is one of Steve and Teri Irwin (Crocadile hunter, Australia Zoo) large turtles. She is extremely old. She is special to us as they have her birthday 15 November the same day as mine.

I love turtles to. I would love to have some but when you have animals like this you have to be home to look after them. We go away alot and our trusty cat and dog is all we are willing to take on at the moment. Enjoy yours

Love this photo, Tania. I had a tortoise years ago, before we left England, but it wasn't a giant one :) Gave it to my friend Sheila before leaving, and when I ret'd several years later, the tortoise was still alive. I wonder if these giant tortoises/turtles hibernate each winter like the smaller ones do? We used to let ours hibernate in my brother's bedroom closet lol. The following spring, I was in my brother's bedroom and heard this rustling coming from his closet and was startled, as had totally forgotten the tortoise was in a box in some hay there :)

Thank you Don. Steve and Teri with the family have done so much. We went to the Australia zoo 7 years ago. there was a small dirt carpark. We entered through a tin shed and into an amaising setting of wild things. We went over again 3 years ago with our daughters to this huge 5* park with enviromentally swing on everything. they mean and live what they say on tv. He is a very big loss to humanity

What a cool animal those giant turtles are. Nice capture. It is still sad to think about Steve Irwins death. A very neat guy he was, loved by many all over the world. Don
