The Carriage Road

I doubt the horses enjoyed pulling their passengers up and down this narrow road in its heyday. At this point I was close to Sam's Point, but stopped to admire the beautiful craggy outcroppings. This is another 3-frame panorama - only it's stacked up and down, rather than sideways,

Carol, it could not have been an easy climb to the top - and I have no idea how two carriages passed each other - even when the road was properly paved. There are hairpin turns and steep dropoffs. Even walking, the thought of iminent rain turning the road into a slippery slide with high winds made me wonder about the safety of the horses on their steep downward descent. Vicki

Good morning, Alandra - I'm not afraid of heights - as long as I have something solid in front of me - but the winds here come up fast and fierce out of nowhere - and I was at the top by myself. Once I started back down I was more aware of areas where huge chunks of the mountain had broken off - to put it mildly, it was a bit of an eerie feeling! Vicki

great image, Vicki. echoing all the other comments, and agreeing about the stone masons' work. I don't like heights, so wouldn't want to venture up there, esp in strong winds.

Thank you, Ann - it was so windy at the Point up top that I had to give the stone masons a lot of credit for completing the wall up there many years ago. Vicki

Vickie what wonderfully captured photograph. The framing of the

rocks by the trees softens the rugged rock formation. This is such

a interesting and well composed photograph.

Thank you Beverly - it was the only way I could capture the full height of Sam's Point. Vicki
