: Dog Stinkhorn; This is a mushroom called the "Dog Stinkhorn" (Mutinus Elegans), which, aside from its appearance, is notable by its foul odor and wet, sticky surface. The strong carrion smell attracts insects, which in turn disperse spores, which stick to their feet. Cool! I found one growing beside our porch when I was a kid. Smelled it long before I found it. I still remember the stench, putrid would be a compliment for these stinkers. Great shot Alfresco! Don
