Flying Through The Valley Of Fire

This was taken in The Valley Of Fire that is around 50 miles from Las Vegas, Nevada. If you get a chance to go there, be sure to do it. This photo we were just walking along when I spotted the large black bird flying by the red rocks. I just had time to compose and shoot then the bird was gone.

Beautiful color and shapes. It's hard to imagine being in a place with that kind of landscape. Seeing and capturing the bird was an added bonus.

Thanks so much Golda, Steve, Alex, and Hannibal for looking at my photo and for your nice comments. I can't wait to go back there again. It's like the color setting in your camera goes way up lol.. They have also made a few movies there using the unusual mountain shapes. To add to what Hannibal said, the mountains are like a sandstone that lets the wind and weather shape them much easier, give or take a few hundred years LOL..

I have seen that rock many times. All those holes in rocks are caused by the wind over the hundreds of years.

Wonderful! I have a friend who lives in Las Vegas, and to be honest I wouldn't care if I never saw the city - but now I know that this is just 50 miles away, well, I might just pay him a visit!
