Thanks for commenting Carol, Jas and Alex. Usually these gulls are a bit of a pest around here, hanging out in large numbers in shopping malls, scavaging around for bits of food. But when I see them in their natural setting, and they stay away from my car, lol, they're not all that bad after all.
