Dancing with the Stars - Opening Moves

I hope you all will bear with me for submitting 12 photos in sequence. If I could have submitted a video tape, I would have, but these sequential shots tell the story.

What you are witnessing in the sequence is a Snowy Egret performing a dance in Crab Cove, in Alameda, California. The dance is probably not that, but actually a unique technique for scaring up some small fish or crustrations off the floor of the mudflats.

Apparently, Snowy Egrets have a wide variety of techniques for 'fishing". In most cases they involve some method for either individually arousing the food, or working with others to "herd" fish.

In this case, the Snowy Egret conducts what appears to be a dance to scare up some dinner. He even entralls some observers in a kyack watching in the back ground.

The series here last about a minute. In the end he does snag a small fish, but it is so small, that you can't see it unless you blow up the photo. I didn't include that photo, because, he is not doing anything that looks like part of the dance.
