Leaving four seasons

Leaving four seasons

The aim of this was to represent the four seasons within one picture.

The difficulty was for each season to merge but be distinct. Very time-consuming and greatly enjoyable! I learnt many new combinations of techniques, for example, in colour, texture (the image is set in low oil- mainly to blur the joins!).

I have always hated winter. The aim of this picture and verse was to be more positive! A lesson from my brother-in-law was that winter trees and plants may look dead to me, but they are not; they are replenishing themselves for great growth. Hence, they may "leave less", but only to "make more".

This is an uplifting thought to cling to as we pass through the worst of winter!

You're right Alandra, it is the text! I was getting confused myself what was the wrong size! Gave me a giggle! I don't know enough about the technicalities of different screens and sizes. Not sure what things will turn out like etc. I will keep trying!

Thanks Mary in UK for the kind thoughts. It seems that once I've acknowledged it, "all's well", which is probably what prompts me to do so. It's always worst first thing in the a.m. of 25 January, - which is when the tragedy happened.

oh, okay, re not being able to see the quotes, -- understand what was meant now, - thought it referred to the the comments left here yesterday, re not being able to read them, but realize now it's the text on some of the images : )

Also had a bit of trouble with some of those, so should have caught on.

So sorry to hear what a sad anniversary it was for you and your family yesterday. Sometimes it is a relief to think of it and sometimes too much. Ironically, I am working on a verse and image about loss at the moment, so I hope it is not upsetting for you.

Thanks Vicki- no it's not your eyes! It's me trying to learn that pictures comes out smaller than I think! From Autumn to Summer:

1)A Leaving. 2)A promise

Know when Leave less

don't break make more

3)A whisper. 4)A lightening.

Light waits Less loss

leaves near leaves keep

Thanks Mary (great name!). Can't get the hang of the text size- appears very big on my screen when I do them, but comes out differently! P.S. Great looking at your guitarist photos.

very well done, Mary S from Kent, England. The quotes are coming thru fine here, not sure what the others mean : ) I also dislike winter, but try not let it "get to me" : ) My DH lets it get to him.

Today is one of "my worst days" of the year, the day that my first DH lost his life in a work related accident, many years ago, aged 32. I was 28, and our little girls were 5 & 7. So am always glad when this "marker" has passed.

I really like the challenge you gave yourself here, Mary. Like Mary Sham, I'm also having trouble reading the quotes. Could you please post them for those of us with older eyes? It's a beautiful composition

I like your logic. I too hate winter and try to find something positive about it to make me feel better. I can't see/read the last 2 quotes. Very nice work.
