Mid-winter Sundown 2This image is of Mangere Mountain an extinct volcano to the south of Auckland,it has two sites on top where vents or craters once blew lava.
It has been called a sarcred mountain by the early settlers (Maori)who travelled here by very large canoes with outrigers(Waka).
To walk to the top is only about 10 mins walk and a large view of the Manuakau Harbour and International Airport.
