Roadside Salad

: Roadside Salad; Driving slowly down a dirt road lined with woodlots and farm fields, this small scene caught my attention. I can identify offhand dame's rocket, buttercup, poison ivy, and burdock, but there are several other things I can't put a name to. Thanks for the comments, Carol and Chriss. Actually, the purple flowers are "dame's Rocket", an invasive plant in this area (Western NY). The blossoms are similar but the foliage is different than the lunaria "money plant", and we never get any "coins" from it. The dames rocket ranges from white through pink to purple and often there are fields full of it. It's often called "wild phlox" around here, but it's unrelated to phlox. It's originally from Europe and was introduced here in the 17th or 18th century by settlers.

A touch of late spring and early summer comes to mind with this image, the pale purple flowers are called 'Lunaria' common name is 'Honesty' and yes from the bark it looks like an Oak.
