Rings Around A Tree

On a walk I noticed this scene. The pattern of the rings of ice around the tree I found interesting. Also,

there was the remains of Autumn beneath the ice.

Thank you Alan for coming in for a look at my photograph. Yes, I guess I should put something in for a profile. Thank you for the reminder.

What a fun and unusual effect from nature. I have never seen anything like this. great job taking this photo, it looks like you are getting along with your new camera. Hey Ann and everyone, if you go to your profile page and in the box where it says what country you live in you can type in your town or what ever. Remember to save it after changing it.

Thank you Gminniss for viewing my photograph. This find was new to me as well. When I saw the rings around the tree it reminded me of the

rings within the tree. I was thinking perhaps the warming of temperatures or movement of the land.

Wow! That's so pretty! I don't remember ever seeing anything just like that.

What a neat effect mother nature has made by allowing the melt water to seep into the ground after freezing on the surface and leaving an air pocket under the ice.You did a great job capturing it.

Thank you Kathleenluiz,Chiss35, and Jas for commenting on my photo.

I hadn't seen anything like it either. We have had weather that was

cold and then a warming spell. I wondered it that might be the answer to this pattern of ice. If anyone knows what makes this happen,I sure

would love to hear and explaination.

I agree with Cindy, I haven't seen patterns like this in ice either. Very unusual and interesting to see. Nice composition on this also Anne.

Ann this is a very nice image,it looks like a large air bubble trapped at the base of the tree very unusual.

Very unusual picture of the ice around the tree! The patterns resemble the rings you would see on a felled tree trunk. Also, looking through the ice to the leaves, is like time stood still. Great shot Ann.

Thank you Cindy. I myself hadn't seen quite this pattern before. The

was clear as glass. It showed the leaves from the past season.

I have not seen ice patterns like this, how unusual. It almost looks like clear plastic. Great shot and interesting to view.
