Owl Nest & Baby Owl 40 ft high/25.04.05

baby Great Horned Owl in the nest in the hollow cottonwood tree, where we walk with our dogs each day. The nest is approx 40 feet high, - my camera hasn't that great a telephoto, but thought it worth a try. And of course, it's rather dark in the hollow area where the nest is.

There are 3 baby owls again this year, so far we have seen only 2. The parent owl was standing guard high up in a nearby tree.

the baby owls are unable to fly yet.

thanks Alex, this is an oldie image now, a 2005 baby. We didn't get there in time to see the 2006 youngsters in the nest, but we did see the 2007 baby owls. Haven't been to that area lately tho'.
