On The Water

Several rowing boats and pleasure cruisers, moored along Derwent Water in The Lake District, with Canadian and Greylag geese out on the water.

A backdrop of trees and mountains can be seen in the distance.

The Lake District is a very popular tourist destination, especially during the summer months, but is famous for it's high rainfall throughout the year. Nevertheless, it is very scenic and beautiful during dry weather.

This is wonderful to view your photo and know that probably years ago my ancestors might of stood on the very spot and looked out at the water there.

Uldale overlooks the River Ellen in an isolated area on the northern edge of the Lake District National Park, which would be north of Derwent Water, where this shot was taken. High above are the sheep-friendly, grass covered hills of the Uldale Fells and Common: A 9th century Norse-Irish settlement existed here. The name Uldale comes from the Norse and means wolfs Dalewolves once roamed the fells here in abundance.
