Hi Bernadette! Adobe will probably put a hit man on my case, but I'd recommend you download the GIMP for free rather than shell out for Photoshop. On the B&W tones, I suspect that the HP software doesn't give you enough control to manipulate the tones as much as you'd like. To do that you need a channel mixer like that in Photoshop which lets you determine how the blue green and red channels are converted to B&W tones.
