About 10 minutes ago I removed the spider's web that was too close to a female mantis, just like this one. She's swollen with eggs and about to build the white casing to house her brood till they hatch. I'm hoping to finally get a decent shot of a mantis (a photo as good as yours, Dephoto, would be a total joy - and if I can get one of her squeezing out the casing... well, enough said :)

This photo was actually a bonus photo. When I shot it there was 7-8 Spring Peepers (small frogs)that had just left the pond and still had short tails. This mantis was on the same tree leaves as they were. Hope it wasn't looking for a meal of the frogs.
