Snail Pearls

Snail eggs on pickerel weed leaf stalks. They

are beautiful and pearlescent. I have watched a cluster - returning several times but never have seen one hatch.

I thought this was a floral from the thumbnail!!! What a pleasant surprise. The eggs look too pretty to be snail eggs. I can't wait to see what popps out of them.

Oh, and when the embryos are about to hatch, the eggs take on a definite pink hue.

Thank you, Anne. Not from FL, especially not from a swamp environment, I have lived here since 1989 and have come to love it. It teams with life; some dangerous and lots small and beautiful. I finally saw one of these snails the other day when fishing. They are large and brown. Eggs are laid above the waterline and if you mark and visit them, you find broken shells. I hope I can

find a tiny hatchline someday and photograph it.

This is a stunning picture. At first glance it looks like flowers. So much beauty - and unusual beauty - that many would have missed - isaround us- if we only have the gift of seeing!!
