the famous Hartlepool monkey at the quayside.. story goes that a French ship was destroyed in the northeast waters and the only thing that survived was the monkey but because it only made gibbering noises they thought it was a French spy so off they took it to the courts in middlesbrough and was sentenced to hang and so the legends goes. thanks for looking
