Mike I start taking the photo at a point where I have the butterfly in view and than quietly keep getting a little bit closer this one let me get like 3 inches from him before he flew away.I never take just one photo of anything unless it does fly off.I delete lots more than I keep thats the beauty of the digital camera.

No telephoto lens I do set my camera to macro and get as close as I can get to the subject without zooming in at all.

Did you use a telephoto lens or tripod on this one, Carol? It's excellent. Vicki
