thankyou Carol and Don. Am surprised there is so much "rust" colour on the heron at this time of year, as believed this to be "breeding plumage" colours. They have touches of this same rust colour on the fronts of their wings also. To be honest, we haven't seen all this brown streaking on their necks and front of bodies either. Wondering if they are X breeding with other types of herons.
