Heron Hollering at Us

Heron Hollering at Us

great blue heron, squawking at us, as he left the stream where he was fishing, to fly over to the field where he landed.

Looks like he's in the process of linking his toes of each foot together, which they do once they get into the level flying mode

Great picture of a beautiful bird! I like how you caught him with his beak open. Good shot.

thanks again, Anne, glad you like it, -- we haven't been out in the local farmlands taking images for sometime, so are looking forward to doing so again soon. Keep wanting to go see if the snowy owls are in their local overwintering beach area near here, but can't see to get there : )

Wonderful plicture. I liked the concentration on the Heron and the explanation of the feet. I didn't know they did that. Also the black tips on wings! We saw this one inside and outside. *g* Great shot!

thankyou Beverly. Yes, the heron was squawking at us as it flew away, think it was mad at our disturbing it : )

Nice flight shot - made even better since the heron has it's beak open.

Nicely done, Alandra. Does look upset alright. They certainly don't like to be disturbed. Isn't your long lens fun?

I was shooting an egret recently and some kids came along and chased it off. Fortunately, I was ready for it and I got off a burst of shots as it passed by me. I'll submit that soon.

Wow This is terrific, Alandra - a great in-flight shot of the gorgeous bird. I'm having trouble getting online here - even though the campground has WiFi. All's well.

thanks Alan : ) - he really did seem ticked at us, we both laffed as he flapped away, - either that or he was saying "I'll fool YOU". On the way home, we noticed neither of these herons were in the same area, - we went up a side road nearby and they were there instead, further from the road. They are pretty smart, I think. They must've realized the previous time, we returned the same way and I got more photos of them. so took off yesterday before we returned : )

Hi Alandra, WOW another great action photo! He does look a tad upset at you for scaring the fish away. If you keep making them mad you'll never get them to sign a copyright release LOL.. Wonderful photo...
