Great Blue Herons - Proud Parents & Babies-In the Wild

Great Blue Herons, Proud Parents and youngsters.

Taken from quite a distance, plus the nests are quite high up the cliff face.

Very interesting to watch, and the herons seem to be much nicer birds than I ever realized.

Hi Carol and Anne, thankyou for the nice comments. Had forgotten about this one : ) The herons will soon be back there, building their nests again, - it'll be fun to go there to watch them.

thanks for feedback, Fella, yeah, know what you mean. I bet you have some fabulous Eagle shots in all those you took. That's amazing. Looking forward to viewing them! Am sure I'd be the same if I had the chance, lol.

Karen, wanted to add, the parent herons do appear to have very similar plumage, but believe the male has a bit "rustier" patch on the front of the wing/shoulder here, and probably more "rust" colour on upper leg feathers, which doesn't show up in this shot. But they are very much alike.

Great family shot. I see the male and female have identical plumage. Very interesting seeing them raise their young through your camera lens. Thanks for sharing.

thanks for the nice comments, Fella, that's really nice of you and appreciated : ) Said enroute to the nest area that eve, that I would only take a few shots that time, ended up filling a 2GB card LOL. Addictive. Hard to choose which to send, plus it takes ages to sort thru them all!
