More comments - I need to add the big Hospital on the Napier Hill may not be a hospital anymore but I think it is used as accommodation and offices.

Before the hospital was built - somebody thought it would be a good place to nurse the sick (it has an awesome view)- thinking the view would help the sick recover more quickly.

Hawkes Bay Main Hospital is now in Hastings.

I was too tired yesterday to write full comments on my photo's - you will see I have added to my description about the history of this building and the area. I took this photo about 3 weeks ago when Paul, Hamish and I went for a walk around the wharf. Hamish just loves boats - like his Mum Dad, and Granddad Ian.

Alandra, Napier is only 20 minutes from where we live. A beautiful place. Both Napier and Hastings (our city) were destroyed in 1931 by and earthquake. As a result, most of our buildings have an Art Deco look to them and Napier is the Art Deco captial of New Zealand. Hastings rebuilt in the Spanish Mission style and as a result we have a spanish festival each year (fiesta espanola) and this is one chance Bianca gets to show off her Flamenco dancing skills. Just a little bit of geography with some history thrown in for you.
