believe this is a hairy woodpecker. First time I've seen this bird, altho DH saw him here yesterday. We recently hung the suet cake out again, due to the wet weather, thinking most of the insects would be scarce for the birds, -- and this woodpecker didn't take long to find it :) Anyway, whatever type of woodpecker it is, we're happy to see him. He flew in suddenly while I was at the open window today.
