The Black-eyed Susan is Maryland's state flower.

It is also a prolific grower, so I planted many of these in the weedy area out behind the retaining wall of our very steeply-sloping backyard. I hope they will "take over" and make it a wildflower masterpice out there, as well as providing food for birds and butterflies and such.
