Could this be the ancestor of the Loch Ness Monster? Or, is it just a statue of a dinosaur?

Wow!! What a wonderful picture! It makes me remember all the Science Fiction books I have read and the scarey movies. But THIS one is a loving Scottish animal. Willing to be tamed. A wonderful, never-to-be forgotten Nessie.

Just to clarify i know thats a statue and just because statues sink, the picture 1)doesn't show how deep the water is, looks to me like a shallow pond and 2) makes sure you cant see anything underneath it like a supporter beam or something like that!!! What i meant was i think its real but not in that picture!!! (this post was really unneccesary)

PS the person who put this picture here is probably having a good laugh about all this

I think that this picture is a FAKE! it is a disapointment to see that somebody would do this when some people would like to see the real thing. And just to let you know it actually looks WAY better when you can see some sort of figure in the water. And why, BECAUSE IT LOOKS R E A L!

For all of you Nessie believers, I have actually been 3 feet away from her. She is as real as you are and she is actually very nice and friendly. I dont know why some of the people on this site want to act like she's some stupid little made up story, because shes not. I have a video of me and my father actually petting it, and my mother was filming it. I was very surprised that she let us get that close to her. It was the most amazing experience in my life. My Mammi was filmin it with her video camera. I could send it to some of you if you like! I am 13 now and that happened when I was 11. For Kevin from Philadelphia, yes you should believe in Nessie. As i said before, she is as real as you are, and I'll send you that video tape if you want. Beth, have you ever seen Nessie, and also what part of Scotland do you live in? THe only time I ever seen her come out in the day was on July 7, 2001, and she was obviously afraid, because you could see her shaking from my window, which is about a quarter of a mile away. I firmly beleive that she is real, and all of you should too, because if you do, she may become friendlier and ill be able too take more videos of me and her together to send to some of ya.

Nice angle shot of subject, even if it is just a statue.

I am a believer in Nessie, and have read quite a bit about all the research done. They have found out that the Loch can support more life than they originally thought, so why couldn't a deep water creature be surviving in the lake. Being one of the deepest lakes in a moderately decent climate, it is very possible that something from the age of the dinosaur has survived in the lake. Look at the coelacanth which has survived and they keep finding more of them! Yes, Nessie is in the lake and alive and well. I imagine that she has a echo-locater ablilty like dolphins and such, so can easily avoid us inquisitive human beings.

Hey! I have a question. Are we supposed to know it's a statue or if it's real? I don't know if this is some kind of trick or just something a person did to show the internet people. If it is a debate on if it's real or not I would say: It's a nice photo, but it doesn't look like a place you would find a 600 pound creature. The water is too shallow, and the river is a little bit narrow, and it's also blocked off by large rocks. The skin looks like stone, and it isn't slick and shiny as if it roase from the river, but was put in the water. It would make a pretty good dinosaur though. If a person just wanted to make a statue and show people what they think of Nessie's grandpa I'd say: YOU ROCK OUT LOUD! That is totally awesome! In all my life I will never be able to make something like that. I say congrats on your almost impossible art project! Very creative! You must've worked hard! I love it!

This particular picture I belive is Fake! But i do believe in the Loch Ness Monster. I also think we should stop trying to catch it if it is real because they will do research and cut it open and see how the monster lives! But Nessie is a legend, and so was Elvis and we didnt just kill Elvis before his time...no he died when it was his time! So we just dont kill a legend! And yes you can do research on it but why try to capture it and do experiments on it?

I also believe in other sea serpents! Because there is no telling what lives in the canyons of the oceans and lakes...no is there.

The statue is a very good one. The detail is spectacular. Though, the comment on the fact that there were no ripples, led me to believe that someone ACTUALLY thought that a "Dino" was exiting a small pond in Utah, whereby trying to either: A- Eat or b_ Atack a small group of tourists. I'm thinking that the dinosaur was just about to come onto land, and heard people coming, so he stopped and pretended he was a "Statue", just as someone took a snapshot and went on their merry way..But then the pictures were deveoloped and this one, so real in detail and so much to speak on, was then added to this web site to make bigger fools out of people who, sadly, are not bright to begin with.....Dinosaurs are ALIVE and well in New york, and they are going to attack the city, which shouldn't be a shock, because New York used to have towers....2 actually, but those darn commercial airlines knocked them down....

This picture is an obvious fake, and as for the loch ness monster there is not enough food in the loch for anything that size to live off of. the plankton level is too low there for the fish are very small.

And as for the plesiosaur the loch ness was closed at that time from the ocean and there was no chance the plesiosaur could have entered,

many people would like to believe the monster is real but face facts there is no food, the water temperature is too cold & there is no way it would have survived for long

We here in Scotland firmly believe in Nessie. She comes out at night and when the fog is in. And she knows when people are there to see her, she's psychic that way, and she don't come out then. Occasionally if you bring her an offerin of fresh beef she'll peek out at ya, but you have to look close, sometimes it looks like a fish jumpin. She specially likes the full moon, there's been sightins of her just gazin up at the moon all dreamy like. She won't harm ya though, she just a bit shy is all.

this is a fake, you can tell

I correct myself, the angle is better than I thought for a sec

Nate on May 16, 2005 at 2:36 PM said:

You can't see it well from this angle, but I'm pretty sure it is an elasmosaurus statue. And also, plesiosaurs and pliosaurs and the such were marine reptiles, but not dinosaurs.

I believe Nessie once existed, but is now dead. I do believe that Lake Monsters exist in some places, like Lake Champlain and Vietnam. Sea Serpents are even more likely, IMHO.

Brian from Utah on May 9, 2005 at 2:20 PM said:

What's shown in the picture is just a tiny corner of the whole pond. The entire park is an impressive display of dinosaur statues. As far as the dent, I couldn't tell ya as it's the first time I've noticed it. It's probably from a kid throwing a rock, or maybe it's supposed to be there like an air hole or something.

Jane from Moscow on May 7, 2005 at 12:07 PM said:

Hehe, how it happened that such a big creature went in this tiny pond (if it was alive)?! =))

I'm doing a report on nessie as we speak and if anyone knows of a reliable and credible site that talks about the theory that nessie is a plesiosaurus please tell me. And that picture is a statue from Eccles Dinosaur Park.

Brian (Azkul) from Utah on Apr 13, 2005 at 3:32 PM said:

All of your comments are funny though I appreciate your speculation behind the Loch Ness Monster and the different opinions brought up. The picture was taken at a dinosaur park in Ogden, Utah. It is in a pond, but when I took the picture, it reminded me of the Loch Ness monster. Originally, when I named this picture, I was thinking, "Maybe the dinosaur that this statue represents was an ancenstor of what is believed to be the Loch Ness monster."

I really appreciate all of your comments, especially Liz's comment. What started out as a thought has seemed to have turned into a nice debate.

Thanks and please let me know what your thoughts are about the Loch Ness monster.

Monica from New Mexico on Apr 13, 2005 at 11:58 AM said:

Okay, some people are total idiots. I lived in Ogden for 11 years of my life, visiting that site many times. The poster of this picture had already said it was a fake, and if you sincerly think that he was trying to get away with something that obviously isn't true, then you most not have enough brains to come up with a more logical idea.

trevor from 7846 e indepndence rd on Apr 8, 2005 at 5:43 AM said:

its pretty cool but it should look more lifelike

Stephanie from Missouri on Apr 8, 2005 at 1:56 AM said:

That is fake but I do believe in the loch ness monster and the other ones all over the world. I do believe it survives through using caves under water.I would love to see one of these monsters because I never have. I've seen bigfoot though. No seriously I have.

Liz from Washington on Apr 6, 2005 at 5:34 PM said:

My father and I have done some research and used logic to provide an intelligent (unlike some people) and pretty likley theory. The Plesiosaurus was a jurassic dinosaur/aquatic animal. They lived in many bodies of water including water in what was assumed prehistoric scottland. Now, scottland waters (especially Loch-ness lake) are loaded with underwater caves hidden to the eye, they usually contain a small pool of water and the rest is dry rock. Plesiosauruses had extremely thick armor and could withstand the temperatures of fire, and temperatures as cold as -100 degrees F, and their main diet was fish because of their long neck, so they were pretty much like roaches (unable to die) If, when the ice age came about, a family of Plesiosauruses lived in these hidden caves during the ice age (while the water above them froze over) and they ate the fish from the small pool of water which was still liquid form due to the shelter of the cave, and even if it wasnt, some fish are noted to throw themselves onto land when water turns to ice. If the next generation of eggs survived and then layed more eggs, it is possible that the "Loch Ness monster" is nothing more than an ancestor of a Prehistoric creature... surviving on fish and other aquatic animals.
