Deluge!

The rain was bouncing off the roof as I took this through a window that was being streaked by raindrops. The crepe myrtles in the background really enjoyed the unusually wet spring and summer.

Thank you, Alandra, Art57, Marysham, Talsi and Golda, for your kind words. I very much appreciate them. This might be the last rain we saw before entering the severe drought we are now experiencing.

Adding my Congratulations, Karen, and echoing all the other comments. Great photo, had a hunch it would win. It has a "misty, dreamy" quality about it.

Well I am going to give this another try. My internet connection erased my comment. I was completely surprised by the results. I just "knew" the lightning pictures would win. Thank you to all the members for your kind words and votes. I really enjoy sharing the photo habit with all of you and learning from each other. Again, thank you.

Hi Karen, Congratulations on your Winning Photo!! Great photo of the rough rain. I really like how you can see the large rain drops hitting the roof, and the effect from the water running down the window.

Thank you, Alovely, for taking time to view and leaving your kind feedback. We had so much rain last year that the roof sprung a leak! Now we are experiencing a drought with almost no rain.

What a beautifully taken photograph of the rain pouring down. Great

idea and capture. Seeing the rain bounce right off the roof is such

a great catch.

Hello, Marysham, thanks for viewing and your comments. Crepe myrtles have small flowers with frilly petals and do not have an odor that I can detect.

What a great weather capture Karen. I just peeked at the contest entries and see that you entered it. :) The Crepe Myrtles are beautiful with many flowers. I've never seen one other than pictures. Do they have a scent? I'll have to check out what you've been doing on pbase.

Karenmoen from United States of America on Mar 18, 2008 at 8:13 AM said:

Hi, Alandra. Thank you for viewing and leaving a comment. Crepe myrtles are common in the southern US as they do well in the heat and bright sun. They come in shades of red, pink and white and can be trimmed into trees. They bloom all summer long.

Alandrapal from Canada on Mar 18, 2008 at 4:50 AM said:

first time I've seen this one, Karen. I really like it also. I've heard about crape myrtle shrubs but have never seen one in real life, - yours looks to be a large one. Had no idea they grew that big and wasn't sure what colours the flowers were either.

Karenmoen from United States of America on Mar 18, 2008 at 3:22 AM said:

Thank you, Golda, for your comment. I agree about the crepe myrtles giving color and also proof of all the rain we had last year.

Golda from Vancouver Island, British Columbia Canada on Mar 17, 2008 at 2:55 PM said:

I like this image because of the inculsion of the red flowered shrub in the background, which really adds to this shot.

Thank you, Lorraine, Talsi, Whittler, Jas and Sparkle, for all your kind words. 2007 was a strange weather year for us. We had a rare ice storm, hail, damaging windstorm, an unusally cool summer, lots of rain and finally a drought that began in October. That's Texas!
