My Dads Memory

Long story!......my son is working on a farm and this morning he rung me to tell me to come out and bring my camera. He gave me directions as where to look, and to my amazement this is what he had found. My Dad, Grandma and 2 of dads brothers lived on this farm before they were even married, and here on the wall, all the brothers names were stenciled on from the wool bag stencils! High in one of the rafters, Dad has carved his name too. The owner is going to remove the boards for me and I plan to have them hanging in my house. What a treasure my son discovered for me, and how uncanny that he is now working the farm the his grandad "Pagie'" worked.

Thank you very much for viewing Jas. That is so uncanny that your maiden name was Page too. I have not got too much into family history but do know that Grandma and Grandfather travelled out to NZ from England.

Cindy, I've just been reading all the comments regarding this image. It is truly an amazing story and I was especially interested because my maiden name was PAGE too.

Thank you very much Alandra. My son brought the boards home for me about 3 weeks ago and much to my surprise was an extra board with Dad's name and aunty's name on it. It wasn't included in this photo and I don't even know how I missed it! I'm sure its so special for my son too, he had oiled all the timber before he gave it to me. I'm sure his 'Pagie' would be so proud of him :)

Oh it is so uncanny Karien. I look at it and I see Uncle Buddy (Val), Unc. Norm, Unc. Andy, Unc. Harry and Unc. Bill (William) but the biggest picture I see of all is Dad! It made my sons day as much as he made it for me. Thank you so much for the lovely comment.

Thank you Vicki, I have just learnt about the day it was done,(Good to know that Uncle has a good memory!!!) and that dad was the one that did this, so that makes it even more special. I bet it makes Dad smile to know its been found too. Thank you for your nice comment Vicki.

What a wonderful story, Cindy, and how fortunate that these boards will be 'coming home' where they so obviously belong. With your great creativity, I wonder where we'll see their 'place of honor'! Can't wait to see that image. Vicki

Thank you so much Golda and Doug. Its more fascinating that for some reason my son wiped the dust off this part of the wall, un-beknown to him that this was going to be underneath. So yes, maybe he was just ment to find it. Thank you both for viewing something special that has made my day.

Almost too much to be a coincidence that your son should stumble upon this piece of family history. You were supposed to have these things. Great story.
