Happy Easter

This composite card is a result of two photos and original artwork.

The flowers were taken at the reconstructed Mormon town of Nauvoo, Iowa last summer and the mat is actually from my living room walls. The chicks and eggs are original art I created in Corel Painter IX.5, using my Wacom Intuos 3 Graphics Tablet. It's the best program I've found for true sketching and I still have a long way to go to master it.

You are both most welcome, Anne and Mary. Anne - I was after an old-timey look as this card started to develop. At the beginning I was playing around with the idea of a totally original art card. The eggs came first and the chick sort of evolved while I was experimenting with different mediums in Painter. When I saw the color palatte I was leaning towards I remembered the photo from a trip to Nauvoo last year which complemented my art. Still not content, I went to my 'texture' file where I keep an assortment of images for backgrounds and opted for the wall of my RV. A little text, and I knew where it was headed - to The Lens Flare.

Mary, I sent a note to Alandra regarding Painter last night - turns out she had been at the Corel site not 20 minutes before I emailed her - and unconsciously answered questions she had about the program without realizing it. It's a small world. Happy, happy Easter to both of you. Vicki

I'll send you an email Alandra - got some info about Painter for you. I know you use Photoshop and Painter and Corel work well together.

Last fall, while between flights in Atlanta I met a lady who designs art for computer embroidery and mentioned I was looking for a good painting program for my Wacom tablet - she immediately opened her laptop, dug out HER Wacom tablet and demonstrated Painter IX. I was hooked. If you like to draw - or even doodle - it's incredible. I created my signature for this year with it too. Vicki
