Too Close for Comfort!

I love thunderstorms and love to try and get pictures of lightening. This was my very first bolt of lightening I got. It was in Harrington, Washington in Eastern Washington. I was actually in my home leaning against the metal door frame of my sliding glass door, I know not smart at all. I was surprised to see it when I downloaded it and realized just how close the bolt was. I sent it to our local news station in Spokane, Washington where it was featured as weather pic. The meteorologist commented that I was obviously too close to lightening and even mentioned the temperature of the bolt. I can't remember what it was. Thanks for looking.

Thank you Don. It is exciting to capture them. I hope to learn more about how to use my camera better to better my chances.

Thanks. I actually got zapped at my computer by lightening last month and my phone got fried this week by a storm. My theory? It is much safer outside!! LOL!!

Hi Lissab, I also love thunderstorms and can't pass up snapping a few dozen shots every time one goes through. Congratulations on your photo being featured on the news station. Be careful out there.... Here where I live we are low with mountains around us. The lightning has not hit in the valley for the 30 years I have lived here but it hits the mountains all the time. I feel pretty safe taking lightning shots from my yard. I have moved inside though a few times when it got to wild for me...
