Cedar Waxwing that finally dropped by our place

Cedar Waxwing near our front patio. Waited/hoped for sometime for these birds to stop by here, we see them only once or so each summer, and it was just lucky that I was still at the window when this one stopped by a few days ago. (captured from open front window with telephoto lens).

He heard the water and was looking towards it, initially, - I hoped he'd come into the patio for a drink, but he flew off and haven't seen him since.

But he posed so nicely for me with these dried leaves, which seem to go so well with the colour of his beautiful smooth feathers, which is a lovely feature of these waxwings. He chose the only branch with dried leaves like this, in the garden, far as I know! Note his claws on the one small twig, close to his body.

thankyou Mary and Alex, for the nice comments. They don't stay around long on our property either Mary, they seem to just stop by our patio once or perhaps twice each summer. Yet we did see some down near the heron nesting area,- at least from a distance I believe it was a cedar waxwing. Til then I had no idea they stayed around here at all. They have especially lovely "smooth" feathers.

You got a very nice shot of this beautiful bird. I've only seen them once, a couple of years ago. A flock was feeding on some berries in North Park. Went back the next day and they were gone.

Hi Alandra, What a great photo to wake up to this morning. Those brown leave do work perfect with the birds color. I love it when things like that just happen, it makes taking photos just a little more fun.
