Cold Cactus

This is our Arizona cactus shivering with the cold snow on it. We don't get snow very often but when we do it makes things look a tad strange.

I like this one too Alan, neat to see the snow on the cactus, it seems so out of place there. I like the dark background also. Very nice composition. Don

Thanks Alandra, Carol, and Lorraine.. I'm glad you liked my different photo. Lorraine, I have lots of cactus on my property and I have not watered them in the 30 years I have lived here. They don't need us humans at all.

Thanks Steve and Alex, glad you enjoyed my cold cactus photo. Steve I searched for the original for the exif but could not find it. I do remember taking it and it was a little after sunset and I did use the flash. The snow does not seem to hurt them at all. There are cactus in the Hualapai mountains that get snowed on every year and they just keep growing. Cactus are about the toughest plants on earth and can take about everything.

LOL Great shot that looks nice on that cactus,I hear you have plenty of room for that white stuff where you live.

Nice shot Alan. Was this a flash exposure? I ask because the background seems so dark compared to the cactus, which helps to make it stand out so vividly.

Are the cactuses harmed by these cold conditions?
