Not Quite What it Seems

"Can you add Dad to a bear picture?", Larry's son asked on a recent visit. (I've made a few comical collages with Mike petting a deer and Dee, Larry's wife, looking at one from an outer frame.)

In this image, Larry was showing us how to approach the doe. It was a perfect posture to add to the bear image as it sought out more birdseed under their awning. By chance, the bear's tongue happened to be sticking out, so it was ideal to give the illusion of it licking corn off Larry's hand.

Thank you Ross - I used DIS2006 - I don't have Photoshop, though I am teaching myself Paint Shop Pro. (I'm in awe of those who use Photoshop so well . . . I tend to return to DIS simly because I've used it for so long and am comfortable with it.) Vicki

Good work. As some of the others have said, the thumbnail really caught my eye and I wondered what was going on. You have shown me that I really have to spend more time learning photo shop!

I didn't add the bear - I added Larry - the bear was really walking under their awning looking for more birdseed! Glad you enjoyed the humor here! Vicki

Good morning, Karen, Tania and Carol. I'm glad you enjoyed the humor here.

This one was 'meant' to be. Usually images like this require quite a bit of careful cutting, layering and fine tuning. This one was minimal as the elements were in place. All I had to do was move Larry from the deer image to the bear - and adjust his position. I posted the two complete images for everyone. They are a great duo for experimenting with, so anyone on TLF has my permission to copy and use them as an 'exercise' tool. That these two images 'fit' so well right away is highly unusual. Doug, Corbin and Cindy can attest to that as they all have some brilliant pieces on their sites.

Incredible work on your part. It just proves you can't believe what you see in this age of digital photography.

Thank you for your great feedback, Cindy, Ikka, Alan, Alex and Don. Larry and Dee were delighted with this combination - their son honestly thought Larry had lost his marbles and really befriended the black bear. None of us would try to be that foolish. It was almost embarrassing how simply the two images blended. I'm glad you all enjoyed the chuckle. Vicki

That is a perfect pair Vicki! Those two photos were meant for each other. It would be impossible to tell it was two photos if you hadn't told us! Great piece of work! Don

At first I saw it by thumbnail, I got frightend, but after the explication there a funny face. It's incredible, what you can do with PS - I work also, but never making like this. Good job youd did, and Larry's son was happy!
