Caloosahatchie Guardian

This male eagle sits in the topmost dead branches watching over the Caloosahatchie River near Alva, Florida. Some days his mate will join him awhile. They are a majestic sight.

Thank you Karen - we were delighted to see the pair still

there when we were back for two weeks last Fall. Vicki

A beautiful composition with those gnarled branches and clouds as a backdrop.

Thank you Cindy. We'll probably be back at this campground for a week or two before heading to Ft Myers - or whereever this winter takes us. I hope this chap will be back up there. Apparently the river is very low - boats are only able to lock through once a day during this draught Vicki.

This is absolutely beautiful Vicki. I love eagles and you have captured this image amongst a beautiful scene.

Thank you for the lovely comment, Anne. We just left that campground after 4 great days visiting friends and Corps rangers. The eagle and his mate have not returned - there's a huge void there now without our "Friends" perching in the top of that tree.

The Eagle, filled with power, protects his home area!!! And we see the strength in the purity of the space between the branches. A wonderful, soul satisfying shot.

Thank you Mary. Actually, not being able to post photos right now is giving me a wonderful opportunity to catch up on others I missed. There are so many beautiful works of art here . . . but not enough time to enjoy them all!

I feel terrible for missing your generous comments - I don't get here as often as I would like, lately - even today I'm on a public library computer running out of time on some beautiful images I've missed.

Thank you, Karen and Alandra. Actually, only these top branches of the tree are dead - the greenery at the bottom of the photo attests to the condition of the rest of the huge tree. I liked the starkness of the branches with the Bald Eagle against the almost surreal clouds that day.

very pleasing shot, Vicki. the old gnarled tree is perfect for this.

Beautiful composition. Nice contrast of those spikey branches against the puffy clouds. The eagle adds a wonderful touch.
