A histogram in itself doesn't do anything, it just tells you something. I wonder if you're (Alex, or Mary, or both!) thinking of the levels function? If so, then curves is a more sophisticated function than levels and gives much greater control, so I only use curves, never levels (for this kind of adjustment, that is - levels has its uses as one of my upcoming articles will describe!)

Alex, a histogram is different. If Steve sees this maybe he will do an article on it.

For curves in PSP click on layers, in the drop down menu click on new adjustment layers, then click on curves then follow Steve's tutorial. Hope this helps. :)

Looks like you used the curves function to increase the contrast in this shot. It certainly comes across with vivid tones and well saturated colours. Nice work!
