Orion Nebula

Hi everyone. Happy New Year! Well, so far it is starting off good. I was lucky enough to get a nice telescope and this is my first attempt at astrophotography with it. It was the first time I got the chance to set it up. This is 3- 1min shots stacked together. ISO 640. It was cold as all outside, but I was going nuts not being able to try it out. When I hauled everything back in the house it was covered in frost....me included. The Orion Nebula or (M42) is about 1600 Light Years from us and is located in the middle of Orion's sword. I was real happy with how this turned out. Thanks for looking. Don

Don, this is sensational. Looks like we're in for some major 'Astral Treats' with your new telescope. Vicki

Hi Don, Happy New Year!! What a beautiful photo of the Orion Nebula. I hope the weather gets better for ya so you can show us some more awesome astrophotography. It sounds like you need one of those ice fishing shacks with a hole in the roof lol....

I love the way light and color in distant space are captured by telescopes. You did an excellent job on this beauty! Karen

A very well executed image! It looks like you got a real winner with that telescope, no optical aberrations evident at all. It looks like you have a nice dark sky, around here we have an overall "sodium glow" from all the street and highway lights. Have fun with the new toy!
