Camellia

Camellia; Evergreen shrubs have long been valued for their luxuriant, rice green foliage and masses of showy flowers, borne mainly on winter and spring.

Once thought suitable only for glasshouses, many camellias are frost hardy outdoors if grown in sheltered positions, although blooms may suffer frost and rain damage. They also require lime-free soil.
