A Bendire's Thrasher

I caught this Bendire's Thrasher giving me a mean look. I was stopping him from getting to the bird feeder lol.. It was standing on some large rocks that are around one of our trees. The Thrashers are as curious as the Cactus Wrens. We have had a couple of them come inside our house during the hot summer. If you turn on your swamp cooler and open the front door, expect visitors to come in and cool off LOL..

Gator Pair Along the Tamiami Trail

In the Spring, people flock to the Tamiami Trail to see the American Alligators which have made a great comeback after being hunted nearly to extinction. They don't seem to be bothered by Humans and their cameras - but they do keep a wary eye out. Thank heaven for zoom lenses, as once you realize that you too are being watched, the feeling's a bit uncomfortable - after all, they are in the wild and you are on their turf.

Hummingbird Fairy on Gazing ball 2007,

this hummingbird reminds me of a fairy, as it sees its reflection in the mirror ball, on our front patio. Captured from open front window. The hummer was totally fascinated by its reflection today. On one visit, it spent about 5 minutes hovering right close to the ball. DH noticed it, and I didn't have the camera at hand, - so rushed to get camera & change lenses and it was still there, hovering around the mirror ball when I returned to the window, so this was one of the first images that I captured. It returned at least 3 more times while I sat there, but didn't stay as long as the first visit. We have never had the hummingbirds remain here this late. It's cooling off quite a lot at nights now too, which is unusual for August.

What a hoot!

Burrowing owl, was living in an abandoned prairie dog hole. Sadly, they have developed this area and my owl is gone. This was the only halfway decent photo I was able to get.

Hey, Buddy Look Up!

As I was doing errands I noticed these wild turkeys that were looking for a snack. It was very near one of our Malls. I think the apples that were still on the tree were of interest to them.
