Mt. Egmont from Lake Mangamahoe

Same day, same gorgeous mountain, different location. This one is taken from Lake Mangamahoe, not far from the city of New Plymouth on the West Coast of the North Island of New Zealand. What can I say? You have to agree it takes your breath away. :)

Ballet Shoes

A photo of my daughter Bianca getting prepared for some Pointe work in her ballet class. This was originally in colour but I didn't like the brown of the floor in the studio so I changed it to black and white and then recoloured her ballet shoes. She told me that they are too pink but I like them.

Penny's Truck

"Can I get out too?" Our golden retriever, Penny, at about 8 months old. That pickup truck seldom left the driveway without her in it, regardless of where we were going, anyplace was fun.

Tribute to my Dad

This is part of my Fathers day present to a man I think of as my hero. This did take me a long time to do. First I had to get the backgrounds cleaned off all these photos I put together. Then I had to decide where I wanted each of them and the significance of them. The one photo you will see was his Ari Force portrait taken in 1968. I turned that to sepia aged by 50 and then proceeded to fade it into the background. The most current photo of Dad was taken this past Memorial Day while he was giving a speech as the commander of the local VFW. Thank you for looking at this. I consider this my proudest work to date

Tranquility

Maine, the way life should be.Although there are no Loch Ness monsters in this water but, there are some monster brook trout and brown trout here and if you have a flyrod and a few good flies this is the place to be. You can roll out of the bed in the morning and jump right into your waders and go out and catch your fresh trout for breakfast .It don't get any better than this.

Magic Moonlight Reflection

The end of a great day behind the camera. I had a blast tooling around Salt Fork State Park looking for wildlife shots. I then took some shots for my friend at his Whitetail Deer Education Park possibly for a brochure he is putting together. I took this one as the a full moon rose across the pond at Deerasic Park. I really like this one, my personal favorite for the day. Thanks for looking. Don

Hummingbird Fairy on Gazing ball 2007,

this hummingbird reminds me of a fairy, as it sees its reflection in the mirror ball, on our front patio. Captured from open front window. The hummer was totally fascinated by its reflection today. On one visit, it spent about 5 minutes hovering right close to the ball. DH noticed it, and I didn't have the camera at hand, - so rushed to get camera & change lenses and it was still there, hovering around the mirror ball when I returned to the window, so this was one of the first images that I captured. It returned at least 3 more times while I sat there, but didn't stay as long as the first visit. We have never had the hummingbirds remain here this late. It's cooling off quite a lot at nights now too, which is unusual for August.

On a recent trip to Brisbane I met up with these beautiful pelicans. What a beautiful sight they made all sitting on individual bollards. We were about to board the City Cat Catamaran to go into Brisbane City. What an enjoyable trip.

Millennium Bridge 4

A view of the lateral suspension cables of the bridge (and the new dampers mentioned in another shot of the bridge), and the handrail pointing directly at St Paul's. This picture was an experiment in composition that breaks a few rules. The main subject is well towards one side of the frame, and is much smaller than might be expected for a subject. However, the cables and handrail point so forcefully to the subject that I think it overcomes its small size and positioning. What do you think?
