Area Shutdown

As we went to leave to collect grandchildren from school we found roads colsed off, a fire alarm had gone out at the freezing works, with the fear of an ammonia leak as well. all traffic in and out of the area was stopped,

Your reply somewhat confuses me and I do apologise for offending you Lorraine, I think you misread what I was implying. Like I said you have some beautiful work, this picture just didnt strike me and I think your true abilities speak much higher then this. To be a professional you need to take constructive criticism in order to improve. Good luck.

My son called in to collect his two boys this afternoon and informed me that there were just over 300 workers in the plant, and they put through 600 head of cattle per day, thats not counting what the night shift put through on top.

Thanks Steve, that was how I saw it, lucky it was a false alarm, but had it being an ammonia leak it could have being very different, All industry has the potential to cause death for what ever reason or by accident. The supervisors have to clear all staff out to the safe area, which means they would be the last to leave, one of them is my Son, he has a wife and two children, its not nice but nor is life sometimes to people, floods, earthquakes etc, the story told explains the image. thanks for your supportive advice and coments.

Hi Lorraine. Don't be discouraged by Louisa's post. Whilst she is of course entitled to her view, and to have it respected, I personally could not disagree with her more profoundly!

It is not the purpose of photography always and only to be "beautiful". I think your image conveys a lot of meaning, and in a way its "ugliness" is appropriate for an "ugly" incident. To be perfectly frank, there are already too many pretty pretty cuddly images on TLF, and although some of the shots of, say, kittens on the site are artistically and photographically excellent, a lot of others are tediously and repetitively sentimental! They are to photography what candy floss is to nutrition: a quick sugary rush and no sustenance.

So I'd like to encourage you to keep posting your wonderfully observed scenes and details, and not to worry about about losing your knack - you certainly aren't!

Personally I fail to see the meaning of this picture, amongst others. Your earlier work is beautiful and it seems you have lost your inspiration and knack of late
