Waterspout over the Outer Banks

The day before leaving the Outer Banks we saw several water spouts. My boss, Roy took several photos at the waterfront and gave me permission to edit and share them with you.

Hi dear friend! It's funny I should finally see your comment here today, as the news featured smaller waterspouts over Lake Michigan last night - not quite as dramatic, but waterspouts all the same. We don't have consistent internet access right now, so I'm a bit spotty getting to TLF. I've missed you all.

am late in seeing this one, Vicki. wonderful shot, and echoing the other comments. Am glad I finally saw it : ) Hope all's well with you and yours.

Thank you, Tania. This was close to the end of the phenomenon - at one point there were three waterspouts in the vacinity. I think it ironic that being as it was over the Atlantic, many campers wandered over to enjoy Nature's Show - yet had they touched land - everyone would have been running for their lives! (I understand that waterspouts stay on the water)

Thank you everyone for your comments. I'll send Roy your comments - if HE gets back on line before long! They were caught by hurricane winds and rain less than two weeks after this was taken. Oddly, no one felt the need to run for cover - we were all too mesmerized. Strange, considering the about-face we've been under down here!

That is an amazing shot. We don't run when we see water spouts here either :)

Wow, that's fantastic. You should send this to WeatherBug. They display weather photos.
