Cabbage Tree

I dont how old this tree is but because it close to the stream it appears to be very healthy, it just looked a very over powering tree in it's location.

Hi Steve, Yes it really is, the early settlers would use the young tender shots leaves as a substitute for cabbage, I have always known it as a cabbage tree, they grow most places but prefer the damp ground.

Is this really called a cabbage tree?! Can't think why since I never saw anything that looked less like a cabbage in my lfe! Nice shot - I love the spikiness.
