Long Pinecone Tree

I got one seed from the long pine cones, and this was the tree, I had to use Macro, it's about 3 1/2 inches high, its being growing for about 3 years,, The trees it came from were over 12-14 ft in height. Maybe tis one's decided to be a bonsia?

Thanks Steve for looking in and the helpful information, you are like the sites own walking encyclopedia, great stuff,. I still can't pronounce a couple of the words you used but I do get the drift, One tree about to be planted out into the garden and protected with netting, thankyou very much for that help.

Very interesting picture and story, Lorraine! Any tree that's "bonsai'd" is suffering some kind of stress, usually of course a severely restricted root system. In this case it might be that most coniferous trees form mycorrhizae (symbiotic relationships with specific fungae in their roots) which enable them to feed more efficiently. If this is a pot-grown tree, it probably hasn't been able to create this relationship, and is stunted as a result.
