Waving Hi

This was taken out in the Goffs area in California. We always stop out there on our trips from Arizona to California. I like it because you are out in the middle of nowhere and I like that. Anyway, this shot is not the best but you don't see the train engineers waving very often. He also gave us a toot on the horn as they went blasting by.

Hi Mary, Alex, GG, and Golda. Thanks for your nice comments on my photo. I'm still surprised it came out as good as it did. Everything was moving from the train, the hand waving, and me panning the camera. Golda there are two types of polarizing filters and they are like putting polarizing sunglasses on your camera, and putting good polarizing sunglasses in front of your lens will work... The circular ones you can adjust the amount of the polarizing by turning the filter. Here is a page that will explain it much better. For the best results turn them until the shot is bright then keep turning until it starts to get a little darker. Most people turn the effect up to much. Anyway if you don't have one you should think about getting one. Here is the page about them.

This picture has speed written all over it,and yet the hand is stationary. There is a certain romance connected to trains.I think it reminds us of a different pace.

It may not win an award, but it looks like a special shot. Certainly somehting to remember however. Never saw an train engineer wave or toot his horn for a passer by. This is special.

How thrilling! I like the sound of trains and great that he waved and gave a toot. :) Nice shot.
