Three Toads Charming the Ladies.

Fowler's Toad (Bufo woodhousii)

Three males wait for females taken in my pond last year. Today is a year later and I've not even heard them calling yet, the Spring Peepers are calling right now.

Taken in Orange Co., NC on March 27, 2004.

This is great! Aren't they shy? They let you come right up to photograph them, eh? How wonderful!

Make me think of "Gustav" the toad that lived in my former in-laws' garden one summer. He had the most beautiful "song", and one could hear him singing in the night and he spent the days in the shade of a plant in a pot well up on the wall of the house (how he got up there, I don't know).

Zoya,

Peepers are quiet when compared to barking Tree Frogs. We go to a pond called 17 Frog Pond. Every year we find at least 200 of them in the pond and you can not talk to someone 20 foot away they ar so loud! I'll upload a photo.

Lucky I am hoping soon. As if you can not tell I love frogs and toads. But I tell you don;t go kayaking in a river full of spring peepers they are deafening after a while LOL

Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos I am enjoying them all
