Millennium Bridge

This footbridge across the Thames was the first link to be constructed for many years. It famously had to be closed within days of its opening as the numbers of people using it caused resonance and excessive swaying. Dampers had to be added at great expense. However, it's aesthetically a beautiful design, and after an initially cynical response, Londoners are now very proud of it.

Thanks for the history on the bride - very interesting as I wasn't aware of it having to be closed. Also, a lovely scene.

Hi Steve, I remember planting the seed for showing more of London. The Grand Canyon.. It's just a big ditch LOL.. I see what you mean about things you live around, they just don't seem very new or exciting. I have more photos of the Grand Canyon and will look through them and add more of them to my gallery for ya in the next couple weeks.

I'm glad you like them Alan as it was your comment on another photo that inspired me to begin this series of London pictures. There'll be plenty more over the coming months if all goes according to plan!

But all you've got is the Colorado River? Excuse me, but doesn't that include the Grand Canyon? What I wouldn't give to see that!

Thanks for your generous comments!

Steve

Wonderful photos Steve, I have been enjoying "all" of your latests photos of the old buildings to bridges. You are so lucky to have so many great things to photograph. All I have around here is houses and cactus, and the Colorado river and a couple lakes.

Thanks Carol, and it's great to see things that one is so familiar with appreciated by others for whom they are more exotic!
